MEDICAL OUTREACH

Since June 1998, the Wellness Center has led Monthly Medical Outreach Missions to provide screenings to rural populations. The Center arranges with local municipalities - including schools, polyclinics and factories – to provide free breast screenings with a portable ultrasound, using a donated van to transport doctors and equipment.

Prior to the scheduled date, the services are heavily advertised in the local media to encourage the highest possible participation. Patients with severe abnormalities are referred to the main Center in Yerevan for further diagnosis.

In 2005, the Wellness Center also began providing basic Primary Health Care services and Pap smear testing during its outreach missions.

Since its inception, the Wellness Center has conducted almost 150 Medical Outreach Missions in 65 remote towns throughout Armenia, providing free breast and cervical screenings, as well as education on the importance of early detection, monthly Breast Self Examinations and clinical check-ups, to almost 10,000 patients.
