Men’s Health

In recent years cases of malignant tumor of prostate gland and urinary bladder have gotten more and more frequent among Armenian men. Males of 45-60 years continue to be in most dangerous group, especially those who abuse alcohol and cigarettes. Men should undergo a screening examination at least once a year.

For several years, the Wellness Center’s female patients repeatedly requested that same level of high quality health care services be also provided to their husbands. The Center has addressed their concern by starting a Men’s Health program on its premises in June 2011. The program concentrates on urology and prostate cancer screening, diagnosis and treatment. The program also promotes public education and awareness of prostate cancer in Armenia. To date, over 800 services have been provided to more than 550 male patients.

Through early screening, public education on the importance of early and accurate detection, the Wellness Center aims to detect cancers at earlier stages and reduce the number of breast cancer deaths.

The Radiology Department’s Breast Screening and Diagnostic Program is located on the first floor of the Wellness Center and is headed by Dr. Ani Hakobyan.  It provides the following services:

• Mammography, including 3D Mammography
• Breast Sonography
• General Sonography
• Cyst Aspiration under Ultrasound Control
• Wire Needle Localization
• Pneumo-Cystography (biopsy of cysts in the breast)
• Thyroid Glad and Lymphatic Knots Sonography
• Teachings on Monthly Breast Self-Examinations
