Khachanush Hakobyan, Executive Director

Meet the Wellness Center’s Executive Director

Khachanush Hakobyan has served as Executive Director of the Armenian American Wellness Center for over two decades. She currently leads a team of more than 150 professionals across the Center’s headquarters in Yerevan and its Satellite Clinic in Gavar. Mrs. Hakobyan holds a degree in Economics from the Polytechnic Institute of Armenia and brings extensive experience in financial and operational management. Prior to joining the Wellness Center, she held a key role at the United Nations, overseeing financial operations for construction and infrastructure projects throughout Armenia.

“I am proud to work with such a dedicated staff. I feel very fortunate to have been trusted with such a challenging mission. It is very rewarding to have a job that helps to improve the health and well-being of Armenian women and mothers,” said Mrs. Hakobyan.

Our Physicians

All the Wellness Center’s physicians are graduates of Yerevan State Medical University. They constantly receive on-site specialized training by American medical experts, who travel to Armenia annually. Some of the medical staff also received advanced training in the U.S. at well-regarded medical institutions, such as the Washington Hospital Center, the George Washington University Medical Center, the Greater Baltimore Medical Center, the Johns Hopkins Medical Institute, and the University of Southern California Medical Institute.

As part of their work at the Wellness Center, our physicians lecture in their respective fields at the Yerevan State Medical University, routinely attend international conferences and contribute scientific articles to national and international journals.

The Center’s staff provides equal attention and quality medical services, regardless of the patient’s social status, education or financial abilities, in a corruption-free environment. Through their work, the Wellness Center’s medical staff not only provides life-saving diagnosis but also set an example of a commitment to our homeland.

Dr. Mariné Voskanyan, OB/GYN

Meet the Head of the Gynecology Department

Mariné Voskanyan, M.D., has been heading the Wellness Center’s Gynecology Department since 2006. In addition to her work at the Center, she lectures at the Yerevan State University’s Department of Gynecology and has participated in numerous international conferences and specialized trainings in the United States, Austria, and Hungary. Dr. Voskanyan is the author of eighteen scientific publications in national and international scientific magazines.

“In my time at AAWC, I have treated many women for pre-cancerous lesions. These, if undetected, would have had serious and possibly terminal consequences.  I am so proud that our infertility program has enabled the birth many miracle babies. As a mother myself, I am encouraged that yet another Armenian family’s flame will keep burning. I hope that my daughter, a student at the Yerevan State Medical University, will one day have the opportunity to serve Armenian women at the Center,” says Dr. Voskanyan.

Dr. Anzhela Ohanyan, Pathology

Meet the Head of the Pathology Laboratory

Anzhela Ohanyan, M.D., joined our team in 2002. From 2007-2008, Dr. Ohanyan received specialized training from the Department of Pathological Anatomy and Clinical Morphology at the National Institutes of Health. In 2005 she received training from a leading medical center in Los Angeles and in 2010 also received training from one of the leading hospitals in Vienna.

“I am fortunate that the AACA regularly sends the latest technological equipment from the U.S. to the Wellness Center.  This makes our work more accurate and our diagnosis more precise. I love my work and am proud of all the lives we save every day.  As the mother of two sons, who are now 13 and 14 years old, I feel very fortunate and blessed. Each time we save the life of a mother, we are also saving her entire family,” said Dr. Ohanyan.

Dr. Ani Hakobyan, Radiology

Meet the Head of the Radiology Department

Since 2002, Ani Hakobyan, M.D., is working at the Wellness Center as a Radiologist and since 2007 she has been assigned as the Head of the Center’s Radiology Department. In addition to her work at the Center, Dr. Hakobyan lectures at the Radiology Department of the Yerevan State Medical University and has participated in numerous international conferences. Between 2002 and 2003, Dr. Hakobyan underwent training at leading medical centers both in the United States. She is the author of eight scientific publications in national and international scientific magazines.

“The Center’s professional atmosphere, along with access to Western technology and medical expertise, inspired me to pursue a career in Radiology. I am always saddened when I have to give a patient the sad news of their cancer diagnosis. However, we are fortunate to detect many of their cancers in the early stages, and are able to recommend appropriate treatment, thus saving their lives,” said Dr. Hakobyan. “I consider myself very lucky to have the best of two worlds – a job I love that helps people and saves lives; and a wonderful family.  I have a 7-year-old son and a 6-year-old daughter whose love and warmth give me strength and reason to carry on safeguarding women’s health in Armenia.”
